Why do walkman earphones suffer interference from mobile phones?

Answers:
To break it down to really simple - mobile phones use radio waves. These create a charge in the wires of the walkman earphones, which manifest themselves as a sound in the earpiece. The signal is encoded so it just sounds like static, you can't listen in on other peoples conversations.
i do not know an exact answer but i know from experience that it is the actual components inside the walkman, not the earphones that are interfered. its just that you are able to hear the interference through the earphones.
Does that help any?
I think the mobile phone signal interferes with the inside electronic workings, the same as if you put a mobile phone next to an old PC monitor and it started shaking like mad. It could be to do with magnetic shielding?
It's not just walkman speakers, it's any amplifier.

Digital mobile phones put out a strong signal when it makes a connection to the network. If the phone is near any amplified device, then it will pick up a stong connection signal.
by the radiation of the mobile phones
