Am i right?
if you mixed together calcium and zinc, a reaction wouldnt take place because calcium is higher up in the reactivity series. Im just checking, i have a science test tommorow!
Answers:
Just to clarify on the above response- reactions can only take place when one element "gives" electrons to another (ionic bonding), or "shares" electons with the other (covalent bonding). Both metals want to give electons so that all their "electron shells" will be complete.
If you mix calcium and zinc, no reaction will occur.
Reason: both are electropositive elements i.e., metals.
Neither of the atoms can gain electrons, nor they can share the electrons.
They may form an alloy---an intimate mixture of two or more metals or non metals in the solid form
Yeah..I agree with Aditya V. Both of them are metals, reaction can't take place!
