Define the term specialised cell?

Answers:
Early embryonic cells are meristematic ("stem") and not specialized to do anything in particular. As the embryo develops these cells specialize to perform various specific or specialized functions. Examples: Muscle cells-contraction/movement ; nerve cells-carry impulses ; epidermal cells-covering ; gland cells-secretions, etc.
There are several theories as to how these unspecialized cells specialize (or differentiate).
a cell that has a specific function that only that cell can execute.

example: red bloodcells.
A cell in which only a certain combination of genes can be activated by the stimulation of its environment. It has its own shape, size, weight, epitores (that is receptors),different chemical synthesis, abilities, and of course funtion. It is also divided in a distinctive way (meaning period).
A cell that is adapted to carry out its functions. e.g. red blood cells have no nucleus, and a large surface area so they can transport more oxygen round the body.
A specialised cell has a specific function within the organism and is any cell which does not fall into a wider category of cell types.
The cell that can only do special tasks. Eg. Red blood cell
A specialised cell is a cell which has a specific shape/structure to enable it to carry out a specific function within the living organism e.g. a root hair cell from a plant root has an extended appendage with an extended vacuole inside to provide a larger surface area to absorb water and minerals from the soil.
always speacial
A specialised cell is a cell that is designed to do a particular job in an organism, an example of this is a sperm cell, egg cell, the palisade cell which is used for photosynthesis, the root hair cell, etc.
