What is the commonest place-name in the world?

My map gives 67 "Sutton" places and 59 "Stoke" in Britain, but only one of each in the US. My Europe map lists 37 places called "Santa Maria" plus 10 "Sainte-Marie", and two "St. Mary" but it's a small map, there may be more. Is any name commoner in the US than Avon --- I can find 21 Avons, including the Avondales and Avonvales.

I don't mean prefixes like New, Santa, and Stary of course, I mean the substantial core of the name. For example, on this criterion I count Stoke St. Mary in Somerset as a Stoke, but not as a St. Mary.

Answers:
Most common place name? Surely it's got to be "home", there's no place like home
In America, I think it is Martin Luther King Jr. (Drive, Avenue, Street, etc.)
Probably Newcastle (& foreign variants) or New Town
Where?.
Alexanderia
for US cities it's Springfield. Every state has a Springfield city.
It's ........ street, more places contain the word street than any other, it even translates into different languages like strasse or rue.
New York,I guess
In the States, the joke is that there is a Springfield in every state. Don't know if that's exactly true, but there are several, and it's the basis of the idea in the TV show "The Simpsons" that everyone - or no one - can claim that theirs is the Springfield in which the show is set.

I've lived all over the U.S. and have driven much of it. Springfield is as good a guess as any, because I can't think of any town name that came up frequently during my travels.

As for streets, no, it's not MLK. More like Main, or Washington, perhaps.
downtown maybe
