Dose a crane fly (daddy long legs) have a venomous bite?

Answers:
Jk hello,

There are loads this year. They are harmless though. ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww cept they give me the creeps when they hang on the ceiling and wiggle ewww and when you find them dead on the floor legs have fallen off.
I think they are harmless.
they cant bite
no, and they are very good luck inside the home
Hope not, we've been absolutely plagued! lol
Very unlikely.
No
No they are just annoying, flying around your face and making that little buzzing sound!
They are related to mosqutoes but they do not bite humans and and do not have venom.
They do have a very poisonous bite but it has no effect on humans
a cranefly has one of the most poisonous venoms in the world, but it has no teeth and no way to release the venom
Well apparently they do carry a small amount of venom but have no teeth to administer it to anyone! seems a little pointless but quite funny! hehe.
They shouldnt
get bit by one and find out!

no im jk. they are harmless. i keep them as pets. jk. but they dont bite
they aren't strong enough to puncture a human being's skin. they are very venomous but for other insects.nothing to worry about!
Nope. Infact, Crane Flies cannot bite.
I may be wrong, but aren't daddy long legs a type of spider? I heard rumours (I don't believe them) that crane flies (or shad flies) are really male mosquitos that don't bite. weird eh?
Many Crane flies do not eat during their 5 to 10 day adult life. Those that do tend only to eat nectar. So not much point having a venomous bite.
Daddy long legs have venom, but their mouths are too small to actually transfer the venom. So, they are virtually harmless, unless you kill them and dissect them and get to the venom in them. Which would be totally gross, by the way.
no,totally harmless.
i agree they are harmless. my house is full of 'em and all they do is annoy the dog!
Noooooooooo! I think that should have emphasised that enough.

The old tale about them having the worlds most venemous poison but not having long enough teeth to inject humans with it is utter nonsense. They barely have enough venom to harm the tiniest of insects, let alone us.
crane flies actually would be the most deadly spider if they could bite u so they do carry vernom but its harmless because they hav nothing to bite u with.
Absolutley not ! they are a gentle creture, not a lot of
harm, very little life span, one of Gods genteel, they
eat a lot of vermin in their lifetime.more than any
of you and me could do !!
No. They cannot bite people. The long pointy bit at the back isn't a sting either. It is an ovipositor, designed to allow the Crane fly to lay her eggs in the soil. The eggs hatch out into Leather Jackets, grey grubs who eat the roots of grass. When you see starlings and other birds on a lawn poking bout into the ground, that's what they are looking for, nice tasty Leather Jackets.
Leather Jackets make the grass of a lawn go yellow, and die. They are pests, but the Crane fly is just irritating when it comes indoors.
The Crane Fly has the deadliest venom of any insect, luckily for us, it is unable to sting or bite!
maybe it does to its food source.
Crane flies are actually the rather good sized mosquito looking creatures you see buzzing around walls in the summer.

Daddy Long Legs are poisonous, but their jaws are so small that they are of no danger to human beings.
They are two different creatures.

Daddy long legs - no wings & a small round body.

Crane fly - well, has wings, long body.and a poor sense of direction!

There is a MYTH that daddy long legs venom is 'the most deadly' - it isn't. This was conclusively DISPROVED on Mythbusters. (Discovery Channel) It IS venomous, but NOT highly dangerous to humans - even if the quantity of venom was increased.
Yes it has venom but cannot puncture your skin so it is not dangerous
they are virtually harmless, unless you kill them and dissect them and get to the venom in them.
