Why do they use sterilised needles for death by lethal injection?
Answers:
LAWYERS! That's why. If they used a dirty needle and the person died from anything other than the chemical injection, like an infection, then the gov't would get sued. Basically it is in case anything goes wrong- that is why they are sterilized.
The needle might get clogged up from a previous execution - if your injecting into someone, that needle is going into the arm and could get clogged by skin cells therefore you wouldn't be able to administer the right dosage to the next person. Plus the people administering them might get infected too if pricked by one.
because they sterilise everything. if they didnt sterilise a few then those might be used for something else and then that person will be infected with whatever is on the needle
wonder how many times this question has appeared on UKQnA.com this week? Where would they buy unsterilised needles?
Probably for the same reason pilots wear helmuts.
Well what exactly is the alternative if not sterilized? Do you mean that we should use a dirty needle since they are going to die? I don't know how that would work as getting a needle that wasn't sterilized would be an extremely risky task with many people coming in contact with it. It would just be unsafe to have dirty needles hanging around the environment and should always be disposed properly.
ALL hypodermic needles supplied to fit into medical equipment come sterilised.
they would hove to go out of their way to get an unsterilised one.

It's the humane thing to do
Probably for the safety of those handling the needle, rather than for the person being executed
same reason they have locks on the 7/11 stores that stay open 24s a day 365 days a year
because some bodies are left to science, and a fucked up dead person would be no good. Also, it may not work if it's too gunged up.
how mant times are we going to have to read this question.its cos they come pre packed and pre sterilized
Don't want to give them a nasty infection.
You have a great idea there. For a place that has three executions per year, using the same needle would save the taxpayers fifty or sixty cents per year.
In case a stay of execution or a full pardon being granted, nice clean needle so no infection should the execution be called off at the last moment
How would you like having an unsterilised needle in YOUR murderous arm if you had done a villanous deed and were getting sentance to death by Monsieur lethal injection?
