Is the size of earth increasing?

for example when you take cuttings off plants and bushes if you put them in a compost bin eventually they will turn back into compost, but the earth benith the plants and bushes appears to have stayed level?

Answers:
There is a little mix-up on the Earth/Dirt verse compost.
compost is still organic matter while the earth is not organic matters.

You have to understand what is plants made of. If you know how did they become bigger and how do they grow, then you will know what is the compost comes from and what they are made of.
No.

Compost degrades.
interesting question !
It's not that it is increasing in size, material just moves around over time.
i also wonder if the planet is growing, they find dinosaur bones deep in the ground and i learnt in geography about the build up of sediment
no, what's here is here. we have the same water for billions of years, the same as material. it is said that the water you drink today has already been drunk by someone or animal 2 1/2 times before, lol.. sounds crazy, but i believe its true.
Our planet grows by thousands of tons every year because of space debris that falls to earth every day. There is conservation of mass that accounts for compost and such. Plants cannot shed more than they take in.
no
Yes, but not for that reason. The earth accrates millions of tonnes of interstellar dust every year, so it's getting bit by bit more massive
Yes, lets put it down to 'global warming' and stick a tax on it!!!!
The earth is not growing by any perceptible amount. If you could travel in time and take measuring instruments with you, you could travel 10 million years in the past and the future. Measure the earth's size, and you'd find hardly any difference at all. A few centimetres here and there is nothing compared to the circumference of the earth (about 24,900km)
Yes the earth is definately increasing in size....

The population of human beings on earth two hundred years ago was less than a few millions. Now it is over 6 billion.. The humans have started living in high rise apartments. As the apartments get higher and higher, the size of the earth increases.
I think you'll find it gradually shrinking.
