Why bear are left handed?

Answers:
Actually, California Grizzly states that most Grizzlies are right handed, just like most Humans.
"Mills (1919 : 253), writing of the animal in the Rockies, said: "The grizzly is exceptionally expert and agile with his paws. With either fore paw he can strike like a sledge hammer or lift a heavy weight. He boxes or strikes with lightning-like rapidity. Most grizzlies are right-handed . . . If a small object is to be touched or moved, he will daintily use but one claw. The black bear would use the entire paw."
From California Grizzly, by Tracy I. Storer and Lloyd P. Tevis, Jr, page 45.
Now, although it doesn't mention any reason for them being right-handed, it does mention that most of them are, well, right-handed (or, right-pawed, whichever term you may prefer), and not left-handed.
However, for the other 7 Bear species, it didn't mention anything, nore even for the other sub-species of Brown Bear (which the Grizzlies only make one of), meaning that your average Bear may indeed be left-handed (and just not the Grizzly), as I honestly don't know.
However, to answer your question as to what-handed most are, I would have to say that I can't really provide any better reason then simply genetic drift, as, just completely random in which way the dominant hand shifts over time; same reason why most Humans are right handed.
Their are know real conceivable benefits to either method that I can see.
I didn't really provide a real answer to your question, though I gave one that I beleive is as good as any real explanation can be on this subject, so I hope this sattisfies you.
I am convinced all animals are left handed. Both my cat and my dog always touch me with their left paws.
i suspect they are ambidextrous
I'm interested to know how you found out? The mind boggles!
Now that is a question! What I'd like to know before addressing it is 'Where have you seen bears with hands?' Huh?
I thought it was only polar bears that were lefthanded? But I have no idea why.
