In a survival situation, assuming you had the abilty to catch enough flies/insects. Could eat a nutrious meal?

Yes most definitely, the French eat snails. Termites, wasp grubs and ants are high in protein. Locusts, tarantula, crickets are all edible. You'd eat what you could given the situation.
yep sounds good .. though the only prob would be if you didn't have a easily available source.. you may extend more energy catching that many flies than you would get from eating them. It's best to catch them in the larvae stage, easy to catch and locate and contains about 10X the amount of protein.
Depending on the bugs, and how many of each kind you could catch - some might make you want to throw up, others are ok. I ate ants and bumblebees (both chocolate covered). It also helps to have a few drinks before.
But seriously, in Africa they have the plague of (can't think of the name, but related to grasshoppers). They catch them, roast them and grind them up to be used like flour.

larger ones yeah, think of the meat on a grass hopper lol there is this little freaky dude on telly who lives in the wild for a day and shows you how to trap insets for food and he made a wicked meal out of ant eggs !! it aint no steak and chips but i think you could survive
