How do u accelerate a neutron, if it hasent got any charge?

I'v read ,to split atoms u need to bombard it with neutron,

Answers:
you're right - you can't

so you either use a radioactive material, which will emit protons (but you'll get them at given energy levels, not at any you might want / like).

or you accelerate protons, smash them into a suitable target, this causes nuclear reactions (and you can targe the kind of reactions you want, i.e. the energy levels), and you'll get neutrons.

in fission reactions, such as that of U235, each fission produces 2 neutrons (in round figures), so can trigger two fissions, which will trigger 4, and so on, hence the chain reaction.

hope this helps
You can accelerate neutrons because they are magnetic: but they don't go any faster, they just spiral.

It is easy to decelerate neutrons, which is what happens in a reactor, you just cause them to bounce off atoms and they give up energy. Nuclear reactions need SLOW neutrons, not fast ones.
Apply heat
Neutrons are produced when an atom is split.
So a nuclear reactor is a good source of accelerating neutrons.
Smash protons (easy to accelerate) with approximately the energy you want your neutrons to have into a target containing neutrons and use the neutrons that come flying out the other side. As a nicety (sp?) you can put an electric field on the other side to bend unscatterred protons out of the resultant beam, and add "choppers" to filter out lower energy neutrons.

Aloha
Grow of neutron speed is hardly possible.
It can be done easily in an electric field, if the neutrons have been attached to any atomic nucleus. (You are not talking about free neutrons.)

Th
you don't, you slow it down to get the neutrons traveling at a uniform velocity. For example when used in neutron diffraction
