If I put a letter in a safe-deposit box for my family to visit me when time travel is possible will it happen?
I've heard that if time travel is ever possible the furthest you'll be able to go back in time is to whenever the time machine was created.
Also if I'm going to put a message in a safe why hasnt anyone visited me yet. It either means I dont ever put the message in a safe, time travel isnt possible, I dont ever have any family or my future descendents dont care or dont have access to a time machine.

You're right that the only method of time travel consistent with what we know today (involving time dilation of only one side of a wormhole) can only bring you back to when the machine was first created. Since no one's created one yet, that's enough of an explanation for now, unless/until science uncovers something new.

Have you paid enough rent on the safe deposit box to ensure that the letter is still there in the future. If you haven´t then your box could be opened and the contents distoyed.

Also, they may have access to a time machine, but if what you've heard is true, it may have been built to late for them to vist.

However, relativity does not indicate that you cant travel to ant place and time, the only problem is that the fabric of space and time needs to be torn to be able to travel at any point in time which is very impossible to do. Again as either of the above hasnt and taken that you havent put the message in a safe deposit box.the flow of events hasnt occured.
travel is only forward and not back you can visit your desendants but not your ancestors.
