Is it possible to run a standard upright fridge/freezer with a solar panel and if so what sized panel to use?

Taking a sample AEG model, this uses 194kWh a year , since there are 24*365 hours in a year, that's 8760h , so that works out at an average consumption a little over 22 Watts (call it 23 for luck). One range of panels jumps from 20W to 40W, so taking the 40W one, the dimensions are 526 x 652 x 54 mm .
Note, as fridge/freezers use power in bursts, and as panels don't work at night, you're going to need a ninja battery setup to go with it.

No, you cannot run a fridge from a solar panel alone. At night, and on cloudy days, it would not work, so everything would get too warm. A fridge needs a consistant power source to properly operate.

No, in winter only 6 hours of poor daylight you will get hardly any power unless the panels are massive linked up. to batteries then powering the freezer, In all it would probably cost you over £500 to set up and the annuall running cost of the freezer from powergen may only be £70
