Why is the poles of a magnet painted blue and red?
Answers:
early adays practice
magent can be used as compass so red will/should always point north.
orientation of magent is important in electromagnetism and certain electrical devices
There is no chemical reason. It is just to distinguish them. Many magnets aren't painted at all.
The inventor of the magnet was a Barcelona fan!
Not all magnets are painted, of course. The ones that are, are usually toys or for educational purposes, to demonstrate how like poles repel and opposite poles attract. It's easier to demonstrate that if there's a visible difference between the poles.
It's just an unofficial standard I guess. No real reason why those particular colours, but they are kept the same so people can distinguish between the N and S pole of the magnet.
becuz one is positive and one is negative. if they were both painted the same color, how would one distinguish whether it was positive or negative without sticking them together. and even then, you wouldn't know which one was the positive and which was the negative ^_^
so as u know what colour is the magnet and what side doesnt stick
Tradition. There is no technical reason. Not all magnets are so painted.
To distinguish them..and it is also some kind of international agreement. .just like everyone in the world knows that we will not get hot water out of blue tap :D
My sons have a set of Oidz (toy) each, these aren't painted - and there magnetic.!
well i think because each pole is suppose to be opposite or something the red is hot and blue is cold but it make no since with magnets i guest just to tell them a part
To differentiate between North and South. Often, though not always the North pole is denoted in Red and the South in Blue [see ref below].
All magnets are Glasgow Rangers Fans
