How can you get a suntan?

a freind of mine said you can get a tan by sitting in the warm breeze even if your in the shade is that true?

Answers:
sunbathing
you get a suntan by sitting in the sun too long.
yeah that be true man.....its the uv rays that burn you..can burn u even if its cloudy..
Not by the warm breeze but by the UV (ultra violet) light reflecting off of objects that then reach your skin. You can get a suntan or even a burn on a cloudy day due to the UV rays.
by sunbathing!
no it aint true u av 2 av da sunlight on ur skin!
being outside all day.
You can get a tan/burn by sitting in the shade. The person who said you can't is wrong.
Stay out of the sun. It will cause premature wrinkles, age spots and even skin cancer. Use an instant tanning lotion or spray. Be safe.
Try sitting outside.lol
You can't get a sun tan unless your skin is exposed to the sun. Otherwise it would be called breeze tan or even shade tan and nobody has heard of that have they? People do tend to tan quicker whilst in the sun when there is a breeze.
You can certainly get a tan in these conditions, even without the wind. I've got a very fair skin and burn exceedingly easily so I always sit in the shade, but I'm quite brown.

It has the added benefit of not damaging your skin so much by burning, and after a great number of years of getting a tan like this people comment on how few wrinkles I've got compared to similar aged friends who sun bathe!

You can't get a suntan at night - how about a moontan?
suntan is a reaction in your skin to UV, it creates melolin which turns your skin brown ..ie no UV no tan, need sun or booth for a tan i'm afraid
Do you like cancer?
welll..i dont exactly agree with your friend...so uhh what i say is.go swimming on a beach, ur own backyard swimming pool, or public out door swimming, and stay in there for like 4 hours and go to someone who has a better eye sight and ask them, "am i dark?"..then u'll get ur answer.
Its the UV rays from the sun.
You may possibly get a tan from overcast conditions etc but i dont think it is as fast acting as being out in pure sunlight.
A tan is caused when the melonin pigments form on the top layers of skin.
Its your body,s natural sunblock hence the hotter the climate the darker the human population.
We in england and whoever that live further from the equator than most are not addapted to such climates hence the variouse types of skin damage that occure made worse by global warming etc.
I have never heard of a sun tan at night. Whoever told you that is either smoking some seriouse s*it, or drinks too much.
SIt / sleep in the sun.
suntans are very silly and extremely dangerous .. you can tan even when the sun isn't out .. but do you want to tan? a suntan is the body trying to protect you from sking cancers and other nasties .. you can turn wrinkly and old before your time .. remember the umblemished skin,, regardless of its natural pigmentation is natures perfect answer to the modern world, otherwise you wouldn't be around
Stand behind the nearest person whose **** the Sun shines out of
Yeh.You can still get tanned/burned in the shade.
All the breeze does is cool the skin slightly, which means you stay in the sun for longer. Tans are just caused by light, unless you use fake tan, of course.
no that isnt true. your skin contains pigments and the rays from the sun make it darker. as with darkening of the skin-its caused by the sun- not by sitting in the shade.
You can get a suntan anywhere - doesn't matter if you are sitting in the shade or not it all comes down to the penetration of the sun's UV rays. Which is why sun cream is recommended to stop the skin from being over penetrated with the rays.
yes i went to tenerife for a week and i sat in the shade all week and i gt the best suntan eva it works if ya sit in the sun though u gt sun burn and water blisters
