yes. and it can happen relatively 'quickly' in geological time, as best they know. the current north pole has been wandering closer and closer to the geographic north pole over the couple of hundred years. it's covered several hundred miles. there's a lot of evidence to suggest that the poles can flip, and it may take as little as a few hundred years to do so.

The Earths magnetic field is caused by the liquid part of the core rotating at a slightly different rate than the sold part. If it's rotating a tiny bit faster the magnetic field has one polarity, and a tiny bit slower gives it the other polarity. It sort of sloshes around a little so it's one way some eons and the other way other eons.
There is evidence in rock layers that this has happened many times in the history of our planet. Doomsday predictions say we are overdue for another one.
