Should we be asked before junkmail is put through out letterboxes?

Also should we have the option to return to sender for free? Thus forcing them to get rid of what they post to us. They would soon get the message.

Answers:
Just recycle it,if your feeling particularly nasty, post it back in an envelope marked urgent, don't put a stamp on so they have to pay
here in France we have an option of allowing it or not.
Oh!!!!!!! Of course!!!!!! I'm so tired of spam!!!!
That sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately, it's all about trying to make money so I don't think that they'll take much notice. So I just recycle it.

I get you in principle, but it would just mean waking me up every morning, so I'd rather just have a lie-in and stick it in the recycling box.
billyfreddy2 - We're not in France - this is the UK/Ireland site.
Now, as I was going to say: I take great pleasure in opening all junk mail VERY CAREFULLY. That way, you preserve the integrity of the envelope. (That means you don't rip it!) Then, you take a look at the contents, and if it's a 'first time' sender, simply write on your address panel "I did not ask for this, so why did you send it to me? Now remove my details from ALL OF YOUR MAILING LISTS". You then fold it up so that their address is in the right place to show through the window of the envelope you so carefully opened, put it in, (use a dab of glue to keep it in place if necessary!) and seal the envelope back down. As these envelopes always have the official carriers' stamp on them (Royal Mail or whoever) when you've finished, you've got a letter looking just like it's ready for posting, and that's exactly what you do with it. It's got the official (looking) pre-paid marks on it, so it looks as though it's the real thing as far as the mail service is concerned, so they send it back (on your behalf!) to the sender. Of course, all being well, by the time it gets there, somebody en-route will have twigged that return postage actually HASN'T been paid, so will then charge the company concerned the excess rate (and I hear that with the new rates it's FOUR times the ordinary rate! (Fun, isn't it..!!).
If the same company insists on "repeat mailings" to you, you do the same thing each time, making the message - how can I put it. - stronger. until you run out of patience and write the two magic word regarding sex and travel. After that, you get no more - AND you've had some fun in the meantime!! (Aren't I an old tart!!)
Oh, and by the way, I AM registered with Mailing Preference Service. The words Teapot and Chocolate spring to mind....
yes but dont worry about it ,
just put it all in the recyclig bin it keeps someone in ajob
Send the mail back to where it came from! With the free post envelope supplied.
I wish we would be asked before receiving junk mail. I know that in the US you can always put 'return to sender' on the mail and put it back in the mailbox without having to put stamps on it.
yup!
