Does anybody believe in 'String Theroy?'?
Answers:
Yes. Although it is in it's infancy it has still resolved many of the clashes with 'classical' physics.
It is a theory but then so is general relativity and Newton's gravitational theory before it and everyone tkaes them to be true.
I have a feeling that when the new particle accelerator in Europe starts operating in 2010 we may find a few shreds of evidence that string theory may be the next step to the GUT.
WHO?
string theroy? no. string theory, yes. The people who made that theory, at least.
But untill now, it's only a theory since there hasn't been any attempt to prove or disprove it yet.
Although it is possible, there is basically no real evidence that it is real. It's more philosophy than physics.
First off, the correct way to ask that question would be "Does anybody believe in 'String Theory'? Second, it is only a theory, so it still has to be tested for it to become a law.Personally, I side with Albert Enstein and think that String Theory is just a guess.
I would if the strings we much much much shorter and if they would not shake so much much much..
No. I think it is likely science fiction.
Not an expert, but I understand it postulates 10 dimensions - we don't see them all becuase some of these hypothetical dimensions are rolled up into incredibly tiny spaces.
This theory has since been dropped in favour of superstring theory, also lacking in experimental support, which postulates eleven dimensions.
I think you're right not to use the word theory!
It's an unprovable hypothesis.
Weirdo
It is a reasonable theory with work yet to be done on it..
I do! I couldn't fly my kite without it.
String Theroy no, string theory yes.
