How long could a community survive in a purpose-built 'survival bunker'?

I was watching some film, Armaggedon or something similar, destruction of life was imminent and people were selected to go live in a purpose-built shelter. But how long would this be sustainable for, given food problems, population growth etc etc? Would it be a feasable way for the human race to survive a nuclear winter or other similar catastrophe? I ask merely out of curiosity!

Answers:
I suppose you could recycle the water to make it last but food would be the problem, otherwise I would think about one generation before they started killing each other.
A girl of 10 survived in a locked room with no windows for 8 years. I see no reason why an organised group couldn't survive in a purpose built bunker for a lot longer, 50 years maybe? Depends on food, water, and fresh air sources.
THere was a game show in a geo-dome.
It lasted about 30 days
ONLY AS LONG AS THE FOOD AND WATER LASTED.THEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO HAVE CANABILISM.
SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST.
BANG! END OF STORY.!!
. . . it was probably the second G in Armageddon that did the damage - was it curiosity that killed the cat ? Would that be feasible (or even feasable) ? . . .
