I have made a tentative ID as a modern Southdown.
These sheep are not on the original wild downs. They were on the
richer Adur valley (the levels), which probably has a layer of
alluvium over the chalk bedrock. Sussex, England.
Thanks for the other sheep replies earlier.
Answers:
Doesn't look quite like a Southdown, there's not enough wool round the face. It's not a Texel either as some people have suggested as they have no wool on their heads.
I haven't got time (at work) to look through everything, but one of these pages might help you ID it:

Look to me like a Border leiscester. Farmer close to my home breeds them.
ask a kiwi they know sheep
I only know a few breeds of sheep so sorry can't help you there. Why do you want to know?
Is it a Texel or Beltex I wonder ?
It has a Texel look about it, it might even be a Texel cross, but to me it's face does not look white enough for a pure Texel. It could even be a Poll Dorset.
It is not a Border Leicester, they have a "Roman " nose.
a friesian maybe
