Is the planet Pluto and dwarf planet or an existing planet like earth, mars, saturn etc.?

I heard on the news this morning that Pluto is no longer a planet. A commitee of scientists discovered that it is too small to be a real planet and that it's atmosphere is too small, or something like that. It's called a dwarf planet now. So I guess it's no longer included in the 9 planets in our solar system. Kinda sad, really.
