Facts :-
In the moat, there is a boat.
In the boat are two men.
In the boat there is also 1 cubic metre of concrete.

The level of water in the moat is at a certain level.

Action :-
The men toss the cubic metre of concrete from the boat into the moat.

Question :-
What happens to the level of water in the moat ?

Answers:
The water in the moat falls.
While in the boat the concrete displaces its own weight of water.
when the concrete is overboard in displaces its volume.
Concrete is denser than water.
It goes down slightly because the boat is displacing less water because the block is gone and it also goes up because of the block at the bottom.
The whole answer hinges on wether, when the block was in the boat it was above or below the water line

It goes down as the concrete in the boat displaced more water per square inch and it does in the water but itself.

However, y is not the same volume as one cubic metre (of concrete)

The amount of water displaced will be sufficiently more as it has to equal x kilogrammes. So the water level will go down.

On a slightly more obvious scale you could use the same question but for a thimble of matter from a neutron star or something or extremelly high density and in the same question it would be even more clear that the water level would go down.

Assuming that the depth of the moat is enough that the block of concrete is totally submerged, the level of the moat will be slightly reduced. Since concrete is more dense than water, it displaced more volume when it was in the boat than when it is at the bottom of the moat.

i think it stays the same level because the displacement of water by the concrete would be equal to tthe displacement of the water by the boat with the added weight of the concrete
The water leverl goes down. When the concrete was in the boat, it was displacing its WEIGHT of water (since it was floating) Once it is underwater, it is displacing its VOLUME of water (since it has sunk) Its weight of water is bigger than its volume of water so the water level goes down.
The water level stays the same.
