Last year when I was in Kenya I bought some lovely elephant tusks, any idea how much they worth on ebay?
Answers:
How cruel is that - surely by buying tusks you have contributed to killing another elephant.
I dont think you will be able to sell them on EBay as they are an endangered species and is illegal!!!!!!
start a bid.see how much they go for!
loads prob cos they are rare
Put them on and see how much they go for. But I can only assume you are posting it here for a reaction from the WWF people....
It depends what size they are. If you have a couple of rhino horns too you may get a few quid for them, but I think you need to go back to Kenya and gather some more.
Yeah E-bay is good - cos then you can be traced and prosecuted!
Try contacting HM Revenue & Customs. You'll get a lot more from them than you will from eBay. (About 5 years more)
I don't think you're allowed to sell modern ivory. It's probably banned by eBay
have you no conscience
Can you get them carved into keys? they are great for winding people up !!
hello crispy..nice to see you back !!!
Thanks for contributing to the promotion of illegal hunting of elephants, just so people like you can buy them!
How did you get them out of Kenya and into ?US. There is an international ban on the sale of new ivory. You should be ashamed of yourself for buying them.
I cant figure out these cruelty to animals nuts, I mean they rant and rave about wearing animal skins but go around wearing leather shoes. They rant and rave about tests on animals but agree that blind people should be allowed have guide dogs. This is coming from a vegetarian who cant understand why these nuts eat meat. If you got them legally Buddy fair dues to you as long as there is no dead Elephants left in your wake. They should fetch up to $20/g
i bet those lovely tusk.look better on the elephant.than they do on e.bay
Unless it is old ivory it is almost cerain to be illegal..Most people go on holiday to Kenya to enjoy the spectacular wildlife ,I don't think I have heard of anyone who has gone there to help the trade in illegal slaughter of animals .
You are a very strange person !
Try it and see how long it takes for the authorities to become interested.
I'd keep them and make them into something useful, like table legs, or grind them down for your own home mdae aphrodisiac.
even if you managed to sell them, what ever you bought with the money should be a permanent reminder of your dealings with blood money.just as well your teeth aren't ivory or someone might want to shoot you!!!
The trade in Elephant tusks is governed by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora drawn up in Washington. Many countries are signatories to the convention which places a large number of restrictions on the trade of such goods and regulates the trade. You are almost certain to require documents from the country of origin to prove the legal status of the tusks (if they had such status). I strongly suspect that the items you have are illegal and should not have been sold to you in the first place, however if they are legal you will have a difficult task in selling them due to the restrictions in place for the sale of such goods. While E-bay may be very lax about the legality of sales carried out through their site trade in endangered animal products covered by international law might not go unnoticed.
Dunno Crisp but can you put my gorilla coat on while youre at it, I only bought it cos i loved the one Pete Burns had when he was on Celebrity Big Brother, but Im bored of it now- I only wore it for a week or so, bit bad really considering a few gorillas died for it but oh well- thats the price of fashion I suppose!
About 10 years and a few thousand quid fine I would think, It is illegal to sell that sort of think in England I think, and it may also be one of eBay's not allowed items. Be careful.
i thought the ivory trade was illegal, they were worth more to the elepant thats for sure
they arnt urs to sell, they belong to the elphant. THANKS FOR HELPING TO KILL ANOTHER ONE
P****
illegal don't even go there
Manny the Wooly Mammoth wants his tusks back or he's gonna leave Sid the Sloth with you..
At least BillT gives you credit for possibly having come into possession of the tusks legally. If you did there are specialist dealers who can assist
Bullsh*t. I'm a zoologist born and bred in Africa, and can tell you that trade in ivory is illegal in Kenya. Even if you bought it illegally, there's no way you van get them through Kenyan customs and probably not into your country, depending where you live. Even though African elephants are not a rare or endangered species (yet), trade in ivory is banned in most countries to discourage the illegal poaching of elephants. Even most conservation authorities who, at times, are in the unfortunate position to have to cull elephants to save other species, don't sell the resultant ivory to discourage ANY trade that may leave the door open for poachers to do their thing.
Best you can do is not to encourage the trade. Put them up in your study or something, but please don't sell them.
IVORY is a banned product you can and will be prosecuted for selling these you could have been arrested at the airport for even bringing them back into the country !!!!!!!!!! How can you think of the tusk of an elephant as lovely when their species is in decline ?//
POOR ELEPHANTS!!!!!
Nothing. Since they are illegal to own, sell, or purchase in the U.S. no dealer will touch them with a ten foot pole. I'm curious as to how you succeeded in smuggling them in.
I bet you've got tusks
