How is your recycling going? Has your local authority got it off to a fine?
art? Or is it like Aberdeenshire council making a real pigs ear of it so far. Still they will get it right eventually it's only been in the pipeline for the last 5 years.

You Wish! Nott'm City Council are useless at it. We got the obligatory bins a few months ago. we have to do everything except empty them. which the council can't get right anyway.. we don't know which day the bin men will turn up and which one should be put out for collection. if its the wrong bin, its not collected. And of course we now have more flies around the bins as they are collected so infrequently. Councils. about as useful as chocolate fireguards!

I recently left Southampton to move to Spain
Hampshire seems to be along the same lines as Aberdeenshire some areas have bins others don't mostly recycling points are in supermarket car parks, with some houses having separate bins, it helps but where do you store your waste before you do your shop, here in Gran Canaria the capital Las Palmas has recycling bins on virtually every street for glass, paper and metal, regular adverts on TV to encourage people to recycle a far superior effort. Only down side, in the south of the island the tourist area, only glass recycling is available again plentiful but no where for metal or paper, hopefully this will improve in the near future. I have written to the local papers to ask why this is but am still awaiting a reply
Our local council has finally issued us with wheelie bins for recycling. We can recycle practically anything in it (within the confines of what can normally be recycled) except glass. It is collected once a fortnight, but only as long as we leave it out on the kerb for them. I would say they collect 90% of the time. It's actually okay, I am quite impressed. But then, our council is one of the worst in the country for recycling - I suppose they had to get it (nearly) right really.
I'm in Wandsworth, London and they supply Orange sacks to throw all boxes, bottles and recycling into. they are picked up with the main rubbish collection. It's excellent!
in lincolnshire its a farce..we have rats in the bin bags, maggots outside the bin..no facilities for cardboard or plastic.the whole thing is a joke.
sometimes they take cardboard,sometimes they leave it?work that one out!the main bin is still nearly full at the end of the first week,which only leaves the option of jumping on top of it and doing a little dance to compact it for the rest to fit in.and that's recycling everything your supposed to!sickeningly though,i hear from a reliable source that it all goes to the same place anyway as they haven't yet got all the facility's to deal with all the different recycling!!
Cherwell aren't doing too badly.
Brown bin for garden waste and kitchen waste you'd otherwise compost (although we got a composter at a discount from them instead as we have a tiny garden), blue box for recycling which includes tins, paper and plastics but not glass. We got another blue box as they are a bit small especially given that they collect recycling every fortnight (rotate with normal waste). It would be good if they collected glass as well but we have a glass bin within walking distance so we manage to recycle that without too much of a problem.
