What is the current when radon is producing 800 alpha particles each in second in an ionisation chamber. Why?
Answers:
Not quite. Assuming all the alpha particles are attracted to an electrode to form the current:
800 x 2 x 1.6x10^-19 (total charge in coulombs, per second)
= 2,56x10^-16 amps
Alpha particales are helium nuclei. It would have a positive value.
800 *2 * the charge of a proton which is probably 1.6*10^18 . That may or may not be right, just guessing.
