Do man-made magnets work at the north and south poles?

If you took a man-made magnet to the north or south pole then would it work the same as it does at the equator?

Answers:
as far as i know of, yes.

think, the man made magnets create their own magnetic field and have always been exposed to the earths magnetic field. Reguardless of the man made one's position, they still emit the same pull towards each other based on their own magnetic fields. Just like magnets work in outer space, they should work at the north and south poles. (also, the man made magnets pull isn't effected when you connect multiple ones together so off of this example, they should work at the north and south poles also.)
yeah it works the same

compasses get screwed up though.
Erm i don't know because isn't there iron in them that throws the magnet off-direction? I guess you won't know until you try it.
Hello,

In my opinion the answer is yes! why? becuase its NOT important wheather the magnet was man made or not. But what is important is that the materials which magents are made of, require that the particles within the material all align themselves with the earths own magnetic field. Which they naturally should do.

**OK I accept there are weird magnetic annomolies on the earths surface where magnetic effects distort the normal magnetic field but I'm assuming we're excluding these for the answer here.

I think that the magnetic properties of a man made magnet would not be eliminated due to the location of the magnet. The magnet would work.
