Why do lambs wag their tails when feeding?
Can anyone help settle an arguement? I was hoping there was a vet site but I will just have to hope someone knows!
I am sure I heard years ago that a lamb wags its tail when feeding because it triggers a mechanism that opens up valves to its last stomach so that the milk does not lie for any length of time and go sour and make the lamb sick.
I am told this is, to be polite, a load of tosh.
Can anyone help?
I suppose I will get a lot of answers that are 'funny' but there you go. Ask such a question and I expect it to happen!!

I have a sheep in my garden I use as a lawn mower, I bottle fed her as a lamb and she wagged her tail. The reason for this is she needed a poo. Not because she was contented or frustrated.
I think it is a sign of contentment
I'm just guessing, but I would say because they are enjoying the food. I have seen people swing their foot, with legs crossed when eating a dessert; because they were enjoying it.
they are happy. my dog does the same thing and i dont think she has valves to her last stomach to open up.
Happy and contented
