My wall mounted 7yr old gas boiler has started to make a banging pipe noise not long before it cuts out?
when it reaches the set temperature it sounds like the water is boiling in the unit for a few seconds. this problem seems to be getting worse. You could say have it serviced again but i dont need the dust blowing out costing me alot of money. The central heating system was fitted by myself a keen d.i.y multiskilled technician and has operated perfectly for 7 years. It is a 82000 btu unit supplying 14 radiators and imersion tank for hot water. It has 28mm pipes feeding the boiler as instructed on instalation, witn a 6m head pump
Answers:
try draining the system and flushing with an inhibitor but question what size rads 10,000btu=3kw bit baffled here ? do they just get luke warm ?
Try a new boiler thermostat. It may have failed to open and it may be boiling out of control. Or .. the boiler may be furred up with deposit and probably needs to be renewed
u might have to bleed ur radiators
The noise you are describing is commonly know as kettling. The most likely cause is a contaminated heat exchanger.
yes it probably is kettling you could drain down the system add fernox inhibitor
