In marine systems how does a moisture separator work?

i understand that moisture in the air is removed by slowing the velocity down but does that remove it?
also how many different kinds are there?

Answers:
OK if you mean water only I assume that you require to dry out compressed air lines. This is done by passing the air through an air drier as the air is cooled the water is separated and discharged to atmosphere or drain. This is one method I am not sure about others.
Oily water seperator - water is removed from the oil by spinning. There are meshes inside the drum which allow only oil molecules through, due to mesh size. The oil therefore passes through and is collected, minus the water, which is drained off.

There are quite a few, but are mostly based on the same principle.
