How likely is it that someone will develop an anti gravity device at some point in the near future?
Answers:
Not too unlikely apparently:

Its been done, its called a bra.
it'd be impossible methinks without creating a vacuum or with magnets.. but I'd enjoy weightlessness! Woo!
I think the gyroscope is a form of anti-grav device - not too sure tho'.
All things that fly defy gravity.
Done already. A gyroscope to some degree.
being a sience nut i think that it could happen in the near future.
Go in space. :)
Just because a plane flies doesn't mean it's an anti-gravity machine. Since we don't really understand how gravity works, there's no realistic way to counteract it. My answer very unlikely.
the NASA plane is an anti-gravity device. I think it's nicknamed the vomit comet.
and who say that they haven't yet?..maybe that explains some of the UFOs..
I've developed lots of them ! The only trouble is, when I switch them on they just whizz of into space..
The "Vomit Comet" does not have an anti gravity device. It can simulate weightlessness in a freefall. The plane gets to a high altitude and goes into freefall. The plan and everything in it are now falling. When this happens, you are accelerating towards earth. During this moment, everything in the plane will come close to being weightless.
Now, anti-gravity. A true anti-gravity generator is not possible today. It may never really be possible. Scientists will need a much greater understanding of what gravity is and how it works before they can build a device to offset it. The same goes for a gravity generator.
I have no idea about how likely it will be. However, I would not bet too much that it will ever happen and I would definately not bet that it would ever happen in our lifetimes.

It has already been done. Go to www.americanantigravity.com
