Ever wondered why the sky is blue?

Answers:
Yes! Of course here in the UK it is not always 'blue' below the clouds!

The reason for the sky being blue is that as light moves through the atmosphere, most of the longer wavelengths pass straight through. Little of the red, orange and yellow light is affected by the air.

However, much of the shorter wavelength light is absorbed by the gas molecules. The absorbed blue light is then radiated in different directions. It gets scattered all around the sky. Whichever direction you look, some of this scattered blue light reaches you. Since you see the blue light from everywhere overhead, the sky looks blue.

Good question!

Yes. Briefly.
Yes but I know the answer to be too scientific for my brain to want to handle.
No not really, but now I am. I find it a beautiful and calming colour, so I'm glad God chose it to colour something so vast! :o)
It's not actually blue, you just see it that way due to the light.
noo
It is the vapour and heat that makes it appear blue.
It's like when light shines through water or glass, and splits into a rainbow. When the sunlight shines through all the layers of atmosphere, it splits too, and where we are happens to be in the 'blue bit'. This changes through the day as the sun moves round the earth, so we end up in the yellow then in the red bit, at sunrise and sunset.
good question

I did, amongst many other wonder whys and decided to study science :)
