Do you think poor pensioners should get a free PC connected to the net?
If you think about it they would be able to do their shopping online if they were ill and stay occupied instead of knitting and doing crosswords.

My inlaws are both retired and on a low income (state pension). They are completely computer literate and quite at ease with surfing the web. They are proof that age isn't a barrier to these things!
I agree and plus if they get msn or yahoo messenger they can talk to their freinds and family. So then they don't loose touch with people aswell
No. Most would end up giving them away to grandchildren
if we give em free to the pensioners then all the immigrants will expect the same too
kepp em off the net and keep em doing wot they should be doing knitting and sewing or wotever they do they to stuck in there ways to learn all about the internet
No. But i think a discount say of 40 percent would be a start.
Great idea.
no because like remote controls and light switches they would find it too fiddly, and their boiled sweets would stick to the keyboard
superb idea.
Local businesses could donate used ones when they upgrade etc and or people could volunteer their used ones and the local authority could distribute them.
No way! Poor pensioners are not that poor considering what poor used to mean. What pensioners need is company and assistance. Somebody to pop in and see if the are alright, to talk, to do odd jobs - not to be shut in their houses even more than they already are. They are only poor in the sense that most don't have the support network they used to have.
yes
absolutly they should ,but most councils have a library service which if not free has cheap internet service .
Good idea.
I think that pensioners are undervalued members of our society - they are our grandparents, many of whom are veterens of wars and conflicts that have preserved the freedoms we enjoy today. They have worked all their lives, contributing taxes and national insurance and there should be more perks to ease the burden of old age. Winter fuel allowances assist with heating costs, and a computer with free connection would as u point out allow the frailer pensioners to shop online. It would be a valuable and cheaper means to keep in contact with loved ones, and to keep them amused when all the socks have been darned lol.
great idea and there are loads of PCs scrapped from big companies after upgrades
"I have to admit I like your wonderful question. It appears you've read my mind from long distance. I am a disabled pensioner and would love getting a free PC and internet connections. You've got a lot of answers, some of which kinda agree with you, especially me. If it ever comes down as a fact, please let me know."
Hello,
principally I agree with you, but how pay this? That would be right question.
I think pensioners should get free everything,,,,, they've paid taxes all their lives
Why do I persist on using the internet in sites like this?
How do I manage to upset people without even trying? Is it a psychological personality flaw of some kind?
Weird phobias?
Have their shenanigans lost us?
True Success V.S. Today Society?
why is it some people have a conscious that stops them doing bad and the wrong thing?
what is the worst insult you could throw at me?
