"Who am I?"?

When asked : "Who are you?" what should we answer this question? or some people would ask me to ask myself "Who am I?" question and then tell them back. What specifically do people who ask this kind of question really want to know?

I tell them that I'm a very individual individual. When I was born they broke the mold, then beat the crap out of the moldmaker. I am 4' 21" tall and follow with my age, then tell them I would be older but I was young when I was born and I have pictures to prove it.
They want to know what they represent in the world.what is there place?
They exactly what to know who you are? name, type of person, sense of humour to form their first impression.
depends on the situation

for eg: your at a wedding and its your granddaughter that getting married and a family friend of or grandparent of the groom askes you who are you? you reply 'grandmother/father of the bride and you?

if a stranger in the street says it to you, you answer 'why do you wish to know? however if theyhave been bigheaded or a show off and someone says it, its another way of saying 'and just who do you think you are boy/girlmr/madame showing off like that!'
When someone asks me "Who are you?' I answer "I'm _____ ________(first and last name)." If I asked myself that question and was then supposed to dig inside to answer that, well, that becomes personal because who I am is a combination of heritage, genetics, experiences, activities, and environments that have created who I am.
V R human being, existing on this earth with a unique identity, i,e name, surname sort of things & people R interested to know your self intro.

I think they want to know who you are.
Just tell them that your a person just like they are. Also say that "why do You Ask this Of Me"? Always stop and think when someone ask you a question they have something up thier sleeve or they really want to know, So asking a question like Why do you ask this, then it will turn it back around on that person and make them tell you who they are.
