Answers:
A Bridewell in the context I know it is a city centre detention centre - normally police that's very close to the court.
Try looking on the internet for more information.
In liverpool the city centre police 'holding' cells are known as The Bridewell and are next to the City Magistrates court - if I recall rightly, it was built by Napoleonic prisoners!
Hya, I am from Liverpool and Dee is right!
The Bridewell in Liverpool is near to the courts and was built many many years ago, however they have now closed it down as the standards of the cells etc were not up to humane standards!!
Hope this helps!
