Why do most women hate spiders?
And why do they ask men to dispose of them? Surely, in this case, size does not matter!

Most women don't hate spiders. A survey conducted in the UK said that 'nearly 50%' of women, compared to 10% of men, admitted to having arachnophobia (irrational fear/hatred of spiders, new word fans). The key word here being 'admit'; I suspect an equal number of guys hate spiders, but being guys they don't want to admit to it. Interestingly enough, it seems that a fondness for eating spiders is more common in women than men.don't know what to make of that, although I'm not going to dinner round their place.
We ask men to dispose of them because it's what men are for. Duh. Well, among other things.
They are creepy looking and I am a guy and I fear them too! I especially fear the black widow and brown recluse ones.since they can hide in and around your house.

As a woman, I have to say, that cockroaches are a far greater hate than spiders.but anything creepy crawly gives me the heebie jeebies.mainly because they can crawl on you when you don't even know.also, I have a fear that they will crawl in my ear or mouth if they get on me while I am sleeping.!!

i dont believe that women hate spiders,they r actually very inspiring to take up life positively.i think according to old traditions there is a belief that when a spider drops down then it is believed to invite guests,that means extra work burden.so probably this could be the reason why some women hate spiders.
becasue they're creepy and girls are less worried about being thoguht of as a sissy than guys. if you saw some guy screamed when he sees a spider wouldn't you give him a wierd look? but if a girl did the same thing you prolly squish it for her. its just how things work.
Every person is born with an inate fear of strangers, the dark, and "creepy crawlies". These are all survival instincts ie COULD BE DANGEROUS.
We either grow out of these fears, or we don't. Clearly the women / spiders thing is stronger than the rest!

Spiders are not in most cases small enough, and just the thought of actually picking one up wiggling like it does, sends shivers down ones back, including myself!

I think everyone naturally hates spiders as part of evolutionary strategy for survival, Most men however have gotten over the fear through "Nurture and Knowledge" but women are less likely to have, as they are still Pre-programmed to protect both "born and unborn babies" from disease and creatures !

I don't hate them, not just especially fond of the huge big hairy Huntsmen spiders here in Australia (they're awful because they are jumpers and you have to be very skilled at watching out they don't leap on your head or something!)
I like Daddy Long-leg spiders.. (they are harmless their mouths are too small to pierce the human skin) and the little black house spiders at least they keep the deadly Red-back spiders from moving in.
If my hubby's here I leave it to him to dispose of the big hairy ones, if he is out when this emergency happens I am forced to dispose of it myself, only because my two girls go ballistic until it's gone..! It's not a common occurrence but does happen from time to time.
I have read that fear to spiders indicates an unconscious relation problem with the mother, maybe Freud say that. I don't know if this is true, but if it is true then it is more understandable why women have more fear to spiders.
But I believe it has more to do with a defense to anything that might be dangerous. Spiders are poisonous and can even kill a person, so we are genetically programed in some way to avoid them, like snakes and other dangerous animals.
Personally I don't hate or fear them, I even find them interesting like many other things. Fear is many times an irrational feeling that you can control.

because we live in a world where there is little to fear for our own mortality so women and some men (prob gay) develop a fear of irrational things like spiders. Plus in australia there is a realistic sense to the fear with black widows hanging out in toilets
