Answers:
depends on how old you are for a start! Have you lived long enough and done enough things worth writing about? If so then yes, write it!
I've been working on mine for about four years.pictures and everything!
Yes why not. It doesnt need to be published but your life is as important as anyone elses. (Just maybe not worth £5 at the shop :)
Or maybe it is.
Yes write your life story, seriously how old are you? !!
Great idea- Just don't publish it.
Sure, why not?
if u want
i find it really helpful writing a diary or journal - it helps you express your emotions and so now when i'm having a bad day i always reach for my diary and a pen. Its also nice to read over and remember what you were doing and feeling at a certain point in your life
Why not? Getting things down on paper can sometimes help you to sort things out in your head, to understand how you really feel about them.
It's also a good way of keeping memories for the future, things that are important to you now but that you may not remember clearly in a few years.
If you choose to, put in anything you want. You don't have to publish it, after all.
That depends.
if it's just for personal reasons then I can see how it could help you think things through and be theraputic.
If you're thinking of writing an autobiography for publication, you should think about whether you've led a very exciting life. If it would make a boring book, don't bother.
yes actually it is. Same principle as being mad at some one writing them a letter and throwing it away. You get it off your chest and know one is hurt. And hey you never know your kids or grand-kids might get rich one day:-)
I would say yes. I did something like that some years ago and it helped provide me a new perspective on things - almost like an outsider looking in. We should all be aware of who we are now, who we want to become, and how we're going to get there. That's a great way to figure it all out.
Also, you'll love being able to read that again in a few years to see how much you've changed.
We forget so much about ourselves as time goes on. That paper would be an amazing window into a time/place in your life that would otherwise probably fade from memory.
I think it's a wonderful idea. I've contemplated it over and over. Being a great procrastinator, I've put it off. Here's part of it, though: http://www.geocities.com/seabulls69/home.
Whether it's worth it or not, depends on you. If no one reads it, are you going to be disappointed? If not, just do it. I've gotten just over a thousand hits on my site since March, 2006. Am I disappointed? No. Hopefully, a few have gotten something from it. If not, I'm satisfied with the enjoyment I got putting it together.
'nuff said?
i keep a journal and it helps me a lot..helps relieve stress and loneliness.you definately should keep a journal.
i don't see why not it is a good idea, you might even want to leave it to somebody you love if something should happen to you, which i hope it doesn't.
From small experience,
I would say writing a continuing life-story makes you dwell on the past, become too introspective and moody. It makes it worse not better.
Writing a diary just as a record (and for fun) is a good outlet, and becomes a valuable tool.
Better to wait until you have forgiven everyone (and yourself) till you write about the things you have experienced. Plus the story hasn't ended yet so will seem petulant when you go back to read.
If someone has asked you to do this - then do it.
The first thing that comes to minds is, how old are you. Second have you have a live that is interesting. I think it is alway a good idea to write down your feels and ideas, but writing your life story is a thing to do when you are old and grey. go for it!
Writing your story can be very therapeutic. There is a whole field in psychology/therapy based on life stories called Narrative Therapy. Sometimes just keeping a journal, writing poems, etc. is enough. Sometimes sharing these writings with a professional or in a support group are necessary to "move on in life." Your age does not matter because your life story is a continous and changing story. Your life story will include stories about yourself and your family and your heritage and you will probably rewrite over and over again.
I definitely think writing is very therapeutic, but whether you need to write "your life story" is up to you to decide. You may find that just writing narratives about certain events or occasions will help you. Or just writing snippets of conversations.
I've also written characterizations. Sat down and picked apart, if this person was a character in a book, how would I introduce them, what would be relevant to explaining their character. I've found that sometimes that's helped me to understand people's actions better. I understand why they do things because I understand who they are, as a character.
I've written settings. Like sometimes just describing a room where something important happened to me. Looking at small details, and allowing the emotion to be represented in that, rather than just being a big blob of raw emotion makes it easier to dissect.
And writing letters is always good for closing "chapters" of your life. When you are ready to put someone or something behind you. Not to be posted, just to write them. I once wrote a letter to a lover that I hadn't even seen in about 5 years. It just suddenly occurred to me one day what he had brought to my life, and realized it wasn't just heartache and once I wrote the letter I was able to accept that that relationship had it's own value and look back on it fondly and leave the pain in the past.

Yes, usually writing on your whats on your mind, can help you see things more clearer, and release any pressures or worries from yourself.
Clearly, making a journal would be a good idea to keep in touch with your feelings, fears and goals. If you plan to publish this journal you need to make the context of wording appealing to the reader. Also along with being descriptive.
Many novels or published diaries are often on drastic life encounterments, you really need to see whether this book has an appealing plot, a beginning a middle and a ending.
Perhaps taking a writing course, will help you to be more expressive to what you need put on paper.
