Should the text of all books, including new books, be available on the Internet?

The answer, for me, is yes. Not only should they be but the people who print educational materials are all going in that direction. I work for one of them. Books will be available for anyone wanting to log on and pay for the service. There are also sites which give books for a fraction of the price because they have sponsors who are also downloaded with the text. Yes, advertisers are moving in as well, just as on cable tv.

only if you pay full price minus the binding and have to download it. I would rather have a really nice book to hold and feel in most cases.
Its helpful of course for a fee . All of the journal articles for my course are on the web and without them i dont know what id do it would take forever to find them all. As long as your paying the same amount of money for them as books. There is something nice about having books in your hand though to read if they are fiction its nice to sit back with a coffee and a good book in your hand
I don't see why not. We get pay per veiw on the t.v and pay for downloads. I think any way of getting literature is good. Just think of what it could open up , no more waiting weeks for book orders or for the library and if you like the book and its exactly what you want then you can go out and buy it.
I sincerly hope that books remain books in their most wonderful form.print. I personally think having a book in front of you to scribble in and keep can make it a much more personal enjoyable experience. And surely the writer of a book wants to see their work produced and made, not displayed on a computer screen.
educational yes it should be free or really really cheap, personal book/story's we should have to pay full price (may be one hell of annoying thing to do) coz Authors need to make a living 2!
I feel there should be on the internet. But it should be just previews of the original text. Every worker tend to maximize his/her earning. If rational in spending and you get interested in the full version, then the issue of paying should come.
no pay to read ,or go to the library. the writers need to make a living too. would you work & let your pay go to me?
Why should anyone have to wok for free?
It should be up to the author as to which terms his/her works are available.
think about it. why would someone take the time and effort to write out a textbook, then make it available for free? if they were made free, the number of textbooks would decrease drastically, and would be of questionable quality.
