Wouldn't life be so much SIMPLER without our EMOTIONS?

Don't say the world would be boring or it wouldn't be worth living because we wouldn't even know they existed. If we were born without emotion, we would know no different.

Answers:
You are obviously not knowledgeable in neuropsychology. If you were, then you would know that ALL ACTION requires emotion, including asking your very question. However, we are often unaware of our emotions because they are not very strong. Perhaps you mean to ask 'Wouldn't life be so much SIMPLER without our STRONG EMOTIONS?'.

There are different types of emotions based upon how they work. There are emotions that drive relatively simple neural pathways, and emotions that drive more complex neural pathways, and the same emotion can drive different pathways. However, STRONG emotions typically drive simpler pathways that cause people to act more wildly, whereas weaker emotions can drive more complex, civilized pathways. So yes, life would be easier without strong emotions.
simpler yes, but no new discoveries or anything.
Yes, well when computers take over the world it will be simpler and we might as well be dead. Give me some emotions rather than an unfeeling git any day.
yep
Our emotions make us who we are. Be thankful to be who you are.
we would be automaton - breathing independant computers.
Well you can only ever wonder. Who knows? I don't think anyone can make such a judgment and truly believe they are 100% correct.
Well...I don't know about simpler. Spock seemed to be always getting into some kind of trouble. He tried to be emotionless:)
Yes it would be simpler.

However we have evolved with emotions because it ensures we look after our babies even when they are keeping us awake at 3am. It keeps families together, even though it sometimes tears them apart.

Simpler? Yes.

Better? ...
Simpler - yes. There probably wouldn't even be any people, as there would be no love, lust, passion, desire etc. Our emotions motivate us, whether we realise it or not. They have evolved with us, and we can never be without them.
Yes. Emotional intelligence tends to put a spanner in the works.
Our subconscious mind has no ability to feel emotion, to rationalise, to feel morals or ethics or weight up the pros and cons. It's a very black and white process - more like a data system on the computer. Something either is or it isn't - simple as that.
It's our conscious minds that complicate things - dam these front temporal lobes.
yes i agree ..

. but we WERE born with emotion so live it!?
And we would have no goals in life we would not have a need to make ourselfs happy, we would see no need for children. That life would not be worth living is not true as we would feel impartial about life.
Death would also mean nothing to us, to kill a man would not give guilt neother woudl it to kill 1billion men. We would not go to work as we do today as we would need ony food and water we would all be farmers. we would farm all day and then sit around in our home and eat at night then sleep. we would see no need to speak to eachother exept for in order to give orders.
Yes but as boring as hell, emotions are what really drive us through life, I feel like crap tonight because of emotions, but at least I know what happiness feels like and that I will feel it again soon :o)
oh yes indeed it would be simpler
It wouldn't be life it would be "lifeless":-)
It would be simpler but it would be so boring. Hahaha. I don't wanna even imagine life without emotons. There will probably be some other kinda form that will substitute emotions. Banging heads against wall maybe? Or pooping at each other? =P
Useless question since we have emotions.
You can't turn them of..
Th
being sad, getting hurt, feeling abandoned r all emotions we wish if we can live without them, but to think abt it r we really willing to give up our emotions, i mean in life u have to take the good with the bad, and i think a moment when u feel good abt a person u love or an accomplishment u did is worth it.
simple, yes. I'd still find it boring though.
We would all be like Spock os Data. All logical and rational. It would be quite a lot simpler, but would you be willing to give up love, happines, etc..
we would probably live an ant-like or a type of hive civilisation where what we did would be purely instinctive because without emotion there would be no reason for freedom of choice. We would live to service the greater good of our species; does that remind you of anything?
yes, but we can ignore them to the point of being sociopathic..so watch out and learn to deal with your emotions and also learn to keep things in perspective so you won't be hurt so badly. if you dont, then you know what comes next? rehabilitating your emotions.cause you can either go through life as a souless person cause you think you're a island. or you can grow up like me and learn to deal with things...
didn't they try that in the movie 'Equilibrium'? it didn't work out so well for them. simpler was not better
Life would be simpler, no doubt. Especially if you never experienced love. I never experienced love or a boyfriend until I was 18, and I can tell you that ever since that moment, life has been more emotional and stressful since. I kind of liked how it was before it. But I'm sure I don't regret it, and especially won't care when I find one last person I can love for the rest of my life and stress and be emotional with. Ha.
Simpler, but meaningless. We would never know the value of our actions.
Sure, we could never feel happy or fall in love, we could never feel fear when we're in danger, or angry when something is wrong, or sad. we would have no personal likes or dislikes, because nothing would bother us or make us feel good. so we could all go through life like robots. what life? We wouldn't even be rational beings, because we wouldn't be motivated to care about being rational. Basically we'd be dead lumps of flesh. Oh wouldn't that be great.
sure would, they cause a lot of trouble
If we were born without emotion we would not be in monogomous relationships, we would not care for our children or elderly the way we do now, we would kill anyone/anything that got in our way.
In other words - chaos. It would never work.
Life would be different. And not necessarily simpler; emotions are a big part of how we manage to live together as a society. Watch any nature program -- life is far from simple for most animals.

And where would you draw the line? Something roughly similar to our familial love keeps a wolf pack together -- is that or is it not emotion?
YEAH, LIKE PEOPLE WHO CALL A RACE STUPID WITHOUT KNOWING THE PERSON PERSONALLY!!!!. EMOTIONS COME ABOUT TO BROADEN ONE'S "CLOSED-MINDED" VIEWPOINTS..
