Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?

For the same reason we'll continue to click on a link when the page is slow to load. *L* We're impatient and all about instant gratification.

Because it works.
When you press harder, it close the electronic circuit in the remote control better and when you have better contact you need less energy to operate it.
Of course, it has it limit. You can press as hard as you can and it won't work when batteries will die completely.
mal functioning of brain while watching TV
I dunno, but I swear it works :)
It is kinda like "mail box flipping". When someone drops an
envelop into a USPO drop box, they will always open the door again after the drop even tho we can hear the mail drop and we know it goes down, we always re-open the door just in case!! Here's another story, have you ever turned down the radio when you trying to look harder at something?
For some reason we think it will provide a stronger signal, most people do it even though there is no point
because we think it is the buttons rather than the batteries?
because most of us are shure we can get that last little bit out of it. kinda like life if yo think about it.
Yes! but logically, you shouldnt have to.. when you press a button, it completes a circuit on the main board. So how much pressure you apply shouldnt affect it.
When i was little, i always said if the battery felt lighter, it was empty! :p but of course batteries dont work like that- there just full of powder
In the same way we speak louder and slower when speaking to somebody that either cant speak English or when we speak in a foreign language...POINTLESS.
cos your female sweetheart !
only men do this women have the sense to change the battery
