Are there any autistic or aspergers people out there?
I am psychologist and find the descriptions of the symptoms rather too well 'defined', and I would like to know from people who have this condition what they think of the diagnostic symptoms. I realise severely affected people will not be able to answer this, but I look forward to hearing from so called 'high functioning' people.

My best friends son was diagnosed as Autistic after being at first thought to have Aspergers and after looking into both he is was diagnosed, at age 15, correctly. He did have impairment in social interaction, restricted and repetitive behavior however he did not have the significant general delay in development of language, normal cognitive development, age-appropriate self-help skills, adaptive behaviour, and curiosity about the environment that is key in Aspergers. He is now 16 and is finally receiving the help in and out of school he needs.
I now can totally see the descriptive differences between the two in him after looking at the criterium (and having known him since he was 6) I can see why the doctors have a hard time with the Dx with the limited time they have with a person.
yes thousands........ ..you are a total waste of space.I have an autistic daughter ..she is 19 now and these so called people have tried to diagnose her over the years and......a big fat zero.they have got nowhere so in the end they try to psychoanalise you.......a total waste of space..........
If you are a psychologist - and I'm not saying you aren't - then I find it rather odd that you would use this method to try to ellicit information from 'people who have this condition'. How does that fit with BPS guidelines and how on earth would you qualify any responses you get?
why is it so hard for middle age to old people find it har dto accept change and other people?
