Do any of the kids near you "swear down" or is just a Sheffield thing?

Answers:
Yup my daughter says it also....it stems from ''i swear on my life'' then to ''i swear down on my life'' by doing this it emphasizes the ''truth'' of what they're ''swearing down on'' ...... honest its the truth i swear down. lol

I hate kids and there retarded jargon

'swear down' is a geordie expression. My mates up there were saying it 10 years ago.

Must be a Sheffield thing. I'll watch Coronation Street to see if the Manchester crowd picks it up. British Columbia Canada
They also do it in the Manchester area.
depending on the context it isn't just a sheffield thing. i heard it a long time before i was there!
it's a teenage thing i think, my children say it, i think it means something similar to swearing with your hand down on a bible but that is my interpretation from what they say. it is supposed to mean total truth and honesty, [yeh really with most of todays teens]
mancunian kids do it too.but it's rarer.

I think the scouse do it too
