Do you think this site should be called opinions?
I have noticed some people choose a top answer that they WANT to SEE.
Because it is in their comfort zone AND THEY DON'T REALLY WANT THE REALITY.
Answers:
Either way it's still an answer, wait a minute though.
You say it's an answer they want to see, that is also your OPINION, what if it isn't? What if they feel it's the right thing to do? How do you know this? Do you know what that person is thinking at the time? Nope. So, basically, you contradicted yourself.
Yes!
It should be called "Good Luck Getting a Good Answer."
no, there shuld be a catagorie for them. an openion can be an answer, its not yahoo facts.
Certainly would reflect reality!
Maybe they could do away with the choosing of a best answer then
Aha! Good point.
I agree.
no
i think it's more like mad magazine's "snappy answers to stupid questions"
Probably. Some of the answers we give are standard, but, like you said, most are opinions and the 'cutest' or most 'dumb' answer usually gets the top answer. I can say, though, that I have gotten many top answers and only 1 or 2 were 'dumb'. The rest were reality checks.
Of course this site can be called opinions. If i asked you do you what do you think is the reason everybody likes money, and you gave me an answer, is that not an opinion?
No. Maybe "Answers and Opinions" would sound more like it, because users ask both questions that are on opinions and actual facts. The answers to questions on facts would be "Answers", while the questions on opinions would be called just that, "Opinions". Maybe they should create separate sites, one called UKQnA.com (this) and another called Yahoo! Opinions, and the questions would be asked in the appropriate site.
yeah. i mean if you ask a question that is gonna be someones opinion put it up for voting. Don't ask something already knowing the answer.
Oh and don't say stupid stuff and not have your account set up for people to contact you. that is lame. If you are gonna state you opinion be available to back it up.
no, that would probably change the whole system, opinions are different to questions
Well, certain questions demand factual answers and certain questions seek opinions. But in terms of the questions I tend to answer I agree with you. I give my opinion and, to be honest, my opinions haven't changed much since I've been on this site. I read through the answers people have given to a question and I think 'Don't like that', 'Yeah, that's alright' etc. I think this website is much more about allowing ourselves to feel clever just by typing an answer or opinion than really deeply fathoming something out.
Is this the answer you are looking for?!
Exactly! It's bogus when that happens! It's more of a "Let's see how many people agree with me" kind of thing than someone actually asking a question. Come on, people, get with it already!
probably
If people read the FAQ and used this site it would be correctly named UKQnA.com.
While people post "..well, that's what I think answers", it is just Yahoo! opinions
In my opinion, you were drunk when you wrote this question.
In my opinion. YES
no, I like the name as it is, but a good point I guess
I must tell you I was thinking the same thing - that the best answer many times is chosen because that particular answer confirms what the questioner was thinking anyway - you wrote "it is in their comfort zone" and that is an excellent way of putting it.
It's hard to think outside the box and to get another perspective on issues. For example, I asked a question about whether or not a person was a conformist or non-conformist. One person answered me by not choosing either one as follows: "Keep living you will find that conforming and non conformist plattitudes tend to restrict your freedom of choices. You have to know when to fold your poker hand and when to play it." Perhaps, I should have chosen her answer as best answer, but it was outside my box of thinking (the categories) I used in my question.
GO AWAY (you did it on me looking for points so now I will do it on all your questions)! Enjoy you wanker!
.why does the word if cause so much heartache?
if you see a question with more than ten lines do you take time to read it ?
what do blind people dream if they have been blind since birth?
Did you see that there are now three hundred million Americans?
If accused of being two faced, how would you know which was the the real you?
What does B A D stand for?
what's the most important thing life has taught you?
Will mankind evolve with larger ears?
Because it is in their comfort zone AND THEY DON'T REALLY WANT THE REALITY.
