To people who believe in fate/destiny. if everything we do is pre-determined is there such thing as free will?
Answers:
I use to have a problem with the idea of fate/destiny and I used to feel if there was a god then it was playing games with my life and until I uncovered in my deep research, that we are game pieces played by our higher selves which are eternal energy beings/spirits, there is no 1 god, we are all gods so to speak. This existence is a game and is played simultaneously with hundreds of game pieces on different awareness levels, races, gender, social standings, light side, dark side etc.. throughout time. Each game piece has a set mission but the outcome is determined in manner which the game piece has free will to make certain choices at their particular awareness level, the higherself per game rules may only interfere in certain situations, like place clues before you but you have a choice of choosing those clues or going with them, mainly prevent death of the game piece before its time to expire (probably where the idea of a miracle of being saved from death comes from). Like for instance your higherself has to have a game piece who needs to go through a loop of a substance addiction alcohol, drugs whatever and go through all those motions of that particular experience. It's almost like a scavenger hunt to a degree, another game piece may have the mission of being evil or partake in dark activities. In true reality their is no such thing as right or wrong just the gathering of experiences (so killing someone is no different than going to an amusement park and riding the most scariest ride, but a game piece that is operating on a higher awareness level would not partake in that type of experience unless perhaps for self defense I would imagine). Think of this existence as a training ground for higher levels of experiences and there is no graduating til you have a game piece that while in the game achieves balance (think of the matrix and neo), total awareness of true self, think of the challenge that we have of remembering who we really are while being born into this existence with no memories of pre existence, there are alot of challenges and questions about the true nature of reality for a reason. If you look around you we all seem to have so many variations of who we really are, who has the right answers? We are experiencing a more sophisticated SIMS game played by immortals as mortals. Seems crazy perhaps but this may offer another point of view never viewed before by most. The good things is that we are not our bodies, we are just the energy sources that animate them and real life is eternal. It's much more elaborate than what I have shared here, but depending on the level one may be on, this will make sense.
as most of us know, the only thing in life that is certain is death and taxes. GOD gave us freewill, so that we may choose him, or not choose him, live in sin, or live a good christian life. I am not going to get all preachy here, but I feel that we have free will, but I also think that some things are pre-determined. Like I feel that I was supposed to meet my husband. I think God made him, just for me. I guess i am kind of in between, huh?
I'm a firm beleiver in free will. Have seen it too much at work, from small things to life-altering events, to be able to doubt it.
Also, pre-determination takes off people the responsibility for their actions. I am _not_ prepared to equate as human beings, say, Hitler with Ghandi. And if all was predetermined, there is neither guilt in the former, nor merit in the latter. Thank you very much, I'll stick to free will.
we are human beings and as such can be just that human. subject to all sorts of ideas, temptations and death, hurt, sufferings , joy , etc.
We can choose to have the easy way or the hard way.
that is the gist of it all. We are human.. we can choose to be bad or good.
Kill and you end up in jail if caught,
love and you will be loved.
one can choose .. we have the right to choose.
some choices are hard to make , some easy. Hell can start here on earth if you are not a wise chooser. beware then.Only God knows your heart and God will give you all the chances you have to be with HIM when you die.trust God for that.
yeah its a great film.... free willy
OH! NOT THAT OLD CHESTNUT!!
It's worse than you'd think.
If God is all powerfull, and he created the universe, then to suggets that he DID NOT know the future in advance would mean he is not ALL powerfull. BUT if he did know, then is it his fault if we go to hell? Afterall, he made the whole kaboodle KNOWINGLY. He set us up!
Even with God and fate out of the picture, the psychology types can't agree on the free will thing. We appear to merely be responding to out past conditioning and present circumstances. Like dominoes.
I would like to hear from a priest and a lawyer on this one. The clergy have been chewing it over for thousands of years and the legal system actually spends a lot of time deciding just how responsible people are for their actions.
You see. That question can rapidly lead to a headache.
you either believe in pre-determination or free will. I believe in free will. only you can choose the paths on which you walk.
It depends on your spiritual beliefs. Christians have a free will. They haave a destiny but they can will themselves away from it, or around it.
