Could I please have a decent adult conversation with someone?
Answers:
wow. I like your spunk. Hurray for the older ones. Those young punks think they are in charge or everything. I agree. It would be nice just to have a seperate section for more mature and intelligent questions.
well said!
I'm 43 and live in the U. S.
Sure, I'd be glad to chat with you!
Reply to this and we can exchange information personally then!
TY!
(P. S. - If you decide you like me enough, maybe you can choose "ME" as your "best answer"! LOL)
I apologize, I'll try to be as intelligent as someone like yourself in the future.
not today, thank you
You took the words right out of my mouth.
I agree that it is frustrating dealing with the immaturity and lack of grammar, but sadly, it has become expected on any mass internet communication site like this. If you want to have a decent conversation, you're probably looking in the wrong place.
Oh boy, I bet you've opened a can of worms..
I agree with you 100%. I am sick of the sex questions, pregnancy questions, what should I do with my cheating boyfriend questions. I guess since this is open to anyone then you will continue to have below standard conversations here.
Couldn't agree with you more.
I think you mean "Let's actually write and SAY what we mean" .
Fatuous, I know, but you know - glass houses, stones .
Dude, ikwym . sure, cuz like we need to like get on an adult level. ya kno?
You know I feel the same way sometimes. I read questions in hopes of being able to be of some help to someone or voice my opinion about certain things and it gets very frustrating, to say the least, when I see how many people can't spell or "speak" correctly. I don't know if it's laziness or what but it really makes one wonder what the future of this country is going to be like run by these people. I don't mean to be critical. I really don't but, you know, it is amazing how many people there are that can't spell.
GET A GRIP man ... you dont have to be such an uptight
A S S , there is that spoken clearly enough for you.. Most of these youngsters are not on here to talk to your old *** in dinosaur tongues. Let people speak their slang and you can continue to complain about it in your daily blog....
Well hello -I hope you are having a fine day! I do not usually make short cuts when I try to answer a question or ask one! Hope this works for you!
SAUDI JEFF and PENWRITE .. sitting in a tree ..K .I.S.S.I.N.G.!
Ohhhhhh i know... im sorry . ! slaps self for being so childish !
Just thought it was sooooooo sweet ! Good game plan for points lady !
ting tong say... find other site, miserable old pudding.
abbreviated text script really gets my goat up, as does questions such as "how old is by dog?!!!!" Let's all speak plain English and have a sensible conversation!
In this media it is difficult to have any meaningful conversation. Perhaps your expectations are a little high in this forum . There are few replacements for good face to face conversation . It seems in today's society we are punished for saying truths and speaking our mind . Few are leaders ! Unfortunately there may be no avenue available to solve your dilemma .
part of the fun is that short speak as you call it affords ambivalent meaning
o comon wot century dya live in? LOL
you do realise, many youngsters and oldsters as you refer to them, are perfectly capable of adult conversation. Some people also have genuine problems with written literacy skills through no fault of their own. Have a little patience maybe the people you are conversing with are more comfortable communicating with short-cut speak or phonetics.
Athough I share your sentiment and appreciate reading all the current posts, please allow me to play Devil's Advocate for a moment. The world has become Digital, Mobile, Virtual, and Personal. WE, the one's who have provided these "children" with the means to instantly choose to comunicate with friends, can scarcely concern ourselves with how they do that. It's now a world where people use handheld devices and "thumb in" text. Any understandable shorthand is bound to surface to cut down how many taps you have to do to be understood.
Granted, we have an established "Standard English", a great and glorious language with a great history, but we have to allow for language usage changes over time as society evolves. In text that is meant to be available and shared on a permanent basis, or text that is going to be the legal basis for commerce, use the standard. But for these informal online conversations that are as ephemeral as tomorrow's weather.I may defer to phonetic (or should that be fonetik) abbreviations and acronyms, whichever is universally understood by the target audience.
To a certain extent I agree. Some of the questions asked here are down right stupid. However, some of the people who come here are young teenagers who are asking questions that they are afraid to ask anywhere else. Or have nobody to ask. I have been there.
No Spring Chick.
tell me where the conversation is..
No comment, it does not bother me. I can see why you are concerned though with the fact that America's youth is falling behind other countries intellectually. On top of this we are being run over by foreign illegals who do not even care to learn English!
Wow, lets get ready for some inconvenient days ahead!
Poor linguistic performance is a just a reflection of poor education. You don't need grammar or eloquence to express inanities.
Sure I sent you a Yahoo Message. Any time that you would like a chat feel free to let me know.
Good luck. The world's literati probably wouldn't be caught dead on this website. Although, Patricia Cornwell could be Labgirl2336, Elmore Leonard might be YummaDumma, and J.D. Salinger is possibly Solitude.
Goethe, of course, is dead. But, I could really be Tom Wolfe, Daniel Bell, or even Norman Mailer.
But, if I were Mailer, I wouldn't be this polite and every other word would be a consonant followed by a number of asterisks.
I understand, I like long hand also. But I do belive this is a questions and answer sight not a chat area..
