Why do things always seem to get worse before they get better?
Answers:
because **** happens and life is a motherfu*king b*tch and it drags u thru the mud before it will let u breathe again
Sometimes because it helps you to get to the point of realisation, have you ever heard of the saying when you have reached your lowest point or hit rock bottom it is a sign that you must take action.
Because we wouldn't really know the meaning of 'better' if we didn't know what worse was, would we? Things don't SEEM to get worse, they DO get worse. But that's how we know what better is. It's all relative, do you see what I'm saying?
Things get better do they? Never knew that! I just seem to get s*** on all the time!
To a great extent, that's purely subjective. When it's been bad for a while, you tend to figure it can't get any worse, then it does seem to. I think duration has a lot to do with this perception. But, on the plus side, when it then gets better, you can appreciate it so much more than if it had merely been the sun coming out after a mere sprinkle.
because you have to hit the bottom before you start to feel any improvement hence the worse before the beta
because sometimes making something better requires you to make changes and for the most part people do not like change and they are sometimes resistant to change. Hence the worse part, then comes acceptance of the change, hence the getting better.
suffering brings obedience.
because lifes a bit*h and it just does that for some reason
the worlds a cruel place
and altho no one ever said life would treat you nice, no one ever said go inside that egg either it just happens
For the same reason it's always darkest before the dawn, or something your looking for is in the last placed you looked,or the phone hasn't rung since the last time. Somebody stop me or I'm going to keep on going.
So that yourself and others among you
can really enjoy those better times
as soon as they come
Could this be similar to house work? I mean, when there is just a couple of dirty coffe cups, you think you can leave them till later to clean, but then there's the washing - there's only one load so you leave it till the next day.
Meanwhile the dishes are mounting up and the kids are getting out all their toys and jumping on the sofa so you leave the other stuff to try and gain some control over the situation. You take the kids to the park to wear them out.
When you get home, the cats have knocked the dishes off the side, leaving broken crockery all over the floor and yesterdays leftover spag bol splashed up the walls and walked through the house.
Before you know it the mess is too much to bear and you don't know where to start and just the thought of attempting to regain your usual standards of cleanliness and hygiene leaves you wailing in despair. So you distract yourself and avoid it by sitting in your, currently tidy bedroom with your kids to watch Disney's latest DVD release on your portable tv/dvd combi.
Then a knock at the door and you open the door to find 3 of your friends with their children at your door, which you suddenly remembered you said you'd babysit for today. These kids rampage through your house and wreck your bedroom and all other remaining tidy spots of your house. You now feel like the world is caving in on you and there is no escape.
When your friends return to pick up their children, you sense an air of disapprovement at your lack of control. You are completely humiliated and in anger, you charge around the house like a tazmanian devil in reverse (ie. undoing the mess instead of creating it).
You suddenly look up and realise that your house is now dirt free and fully restored to it's former glory and it's only taken you half an hour to complete on your own. In reflection, you come to the conclusion that had it not been for the peak of emotional and physical stress from the day's occurrences, you would never have mustered the strength or energy to complete these tasks in a week - let alone a mere half hour!
You then sit back, take a deep breath and sigh with relief and wonder. You spend the rest of the evening playing board games and painting with your children and you feel like the happiest person alive.
You owe this feeling of complete contentment to the knowledge that no more than a few hours ago you were at your wits end and up to your ankles in mess and filth. This allowed you to appreciate this free time you have with your children to play and relax in your immaculate surroundings.
Conclusion:
Stress + despair = motivation + change
Worst experiences = better appreciation of the best experiences
