Anyone else find the word 'bespoke' annoying in advertising?
Anyone else feel the same about this over used word in UK ads that basically means ' we plan to charge you 50% more than normal for very little extra'? It's amazing what nowadays can be 'bespoke', won't be long and McDonalds will be advertising 'bespoke' hamburgers, puck!!

Well i am french and i ve never heard this word in advertising.
Yes, I once ran a web project and all the developers talked about "bespoke" solutions, which meant just adapting their standard software to our requirements for £750 per day. It roughly translates as "Licence To Print Money."
Well they can charge more because they are spending more money to do it. It is much easier and cheaper to sell 100 identical bottle tops than 100 different coloured ones.
I find the word 'homeowners' irritating.
I find 'buy one get one free' promotions annoying - especially on things like bread. Who needs that extra loaf they're offering especially if the best before date is a couple of days away? It's just a waste. Why can't they knock 50% off the price instead?
P.S. I don't have a freezer so long-term storage isn't a practical solution for me before you suggest it!
I agree with thee. However, I have an additional one (though I've heard or seen it used just recently) where they tell you that their product ''has been 'Ergonomically Designed' '' - just for us the customer .as opposed to who else!
If I buy a seat, a coat or a stick for writing with, I EXPECT IT to be 'designed to fit my back n bum, or my hand' ..and generally my body ~ so that it is 'fit for the purpose it is designed to be used.'
That's what the word 'Ergonomic' means.
In south London (the sign may well be elsewhere too) there was a 'Shoe Shop' outside which hung a LARGE sign which read.
"We sell shoes for Adults and Children'..
and, the thought that leaped forth was .'As Opposed to what?'
Apart from horses, what else is there to stock or sell shoes for!
Why the additional info.?
