A very simplized class teaching the basis of an economy. How it works, what is needed to establish one. There should be a course description on your college's website, or in their catalog.
intro to economics
Most universities make use of a course numbering system with four letters representing the department in which in the course is taught and a three digit number represent the individual class. Typically the first digit represents the difficulty or depth of the course and the remainder is used to identify the course.
Since one hundred is the most basic level and 101 would be the first class in a sequence people collquelly refer to basic economics as ECON 101. (This can be applied to other disciplines even non-academic ones.)
However, at any giving university the most basic class my have a different number--at mine the first course was GECON 200.
