Why do we wear clothes?
Everywhere in the world humans seem to wear clothes, why?
Why can't we wear our birthday suits instead?
Answers:
I guess it would have started as protection from the elements, and also the sexual role - to prolong seduction rituals through mystification (and hiding male erections hides their embarrassment and stops women feeling threatened). Then over time, it's obviously gathered all sorts of cultural baggage - primarily it would demonstrate wealth and social status, but also clothing is used to develop a gendered identity. So clothing is used to ornament one's apperance in a way that can be varied at will, and to show one's membership of a class and gender.
But over modern times, I think clothing is used to show allegiance to more and more specific subcultures - support of a football club, to show your music taste (punks, rockers). and now writing on clothing can give even more specific messages about your identity - that you went to a particular event or that you hate George Bush.
This growing specification of identity politics through clothing has a good and a bad side - you can argue that it leads to greater diversity and the freedom to delineate a more individualised style, or that it is divisive - designer labels are a striking example of specifying your own exclusivity in a snobbish way.
Because we would be cold otherwise.

One of them is to differ ourselves from animals.

We wear clothes for protection against injury, heat and cold. The cavemen as primitive as they were, worked that out.

They say clothes maketh the man, it may be a nice idea for all the good looking men / women to walk around with nothing on but what about the grannies etc Just think of all that wrinkly flesh wobbling around.
Just a point not every where in world do they wear clothes, there are still some places where the inhabitants wear nothing.
1. To protect our selves from the elements.
2. To provide a livelihood for everyone in the fashion industry.
3. To protect ourselves from some really gruesome sights.

Social dogma aside, protection from the elements and environment, mostly. Think about the things you walk on every day, think about the objects you use and the structures you interact with. Consider people with difficult jobs. do you really think a carpenter or construction worker would want to be naked? Do you really think you'd want to live without any protection at all besides your skin?
read genesis.the answer is in the first 3 chapters:
ch2 v25. 'The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.'
ch3 v7 'Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.'
so why did they suddenly change their minds and felt shame? the answer in between those verses.
To keep our dignity.. and not to be animals..

We wear clothes to keep us warm, protect our modesty (I guess this came about in more recent times rather than in the beginning) and also to protect our bodies kind of like armour but clearly not?!
because we are supposed to be "civilized"!
Because we would put the designers out of business
cuz otherwise we would be cold an dead!!
Well without going into all the obvious reasons, isn't it good to leave something to the imagination? ;)
I dont i'm always naked
For many reason, some of these reasons are:
1- It protects our skin from sun burn and damaged.
2- It absorbs sweat, so we don't look ugly.
3- God created us shy, and nudity is against religions and laws.
I wear clothes because I don't want to frighten small children and horses.

2. Clothes contain the smell of farts, without them there would be even more pollution
3. Because winter is COLD, and you try standing next to a fire/ sitting on a radiator with ur bits out.
summer has a way of getting people to get there bodies out, and this is not attractive on most occasions. imagine if we were all naked.
The only reason is for protection against sold and other things. In medieval times the masses would go naked in summer as they didn't have enough for clothes for winter and summer, so as it was warm in summer they would go naked and save their resources for winter. In Africa and South America and many other hot places, then people didn't wear clothes, but wnet naked, that was until missionaries went and persuaded them that it wasn't 'nice' to be naked. It wasn't till Victorian times that people wore swim suits to bathe in the sea, but that was a society that covered up the legs of pianos because it could cause people to have 'feelings'. Naturists prefer to be naked because the feeling of the sun, wind and rain on the naked skin is great, swimming in the nude feels great and you don't have wet swim suits to bother you when you come out of the water.
Some things should be left to the imagination..
