Does NLP work?
please only answer if you know what your talking about.
Answers:
I'm a certified clinical hypnotherapist, and NLP practitioner. Half of my sessions are purely NLP with no hypnosis whatsoever. Using NLP as a therapy is phenomenally powerful, but wonderfully easy. The traditionalists cannot understand its effectiveness given the ease of application. They then hide behind empirical evidence, results, blah blah blah.
Ask any person cured of a phobia in 10 minutes whether it works or not? Even if they said yes, would you not believe them because it is not empirical evidence? How about over 600 successfull treatments of which about 250 were pure NLP therapy sessions. My own results!
My answer, does NLP work?? .yes. I'm afraid so.
Some of its tactics - probably. but in the whole I think it is/was just fashionable stream
It will work of you want it to work.
Does it work for what? If it was truly and consistently supported by empirical evidence, then it would be taught in most doctoral programs in psychology, but it is not. You have to pay for seminars to learn it. It would also be paid for by insurance companies, as cognitive-behavioral therapy is, for example. There may some advantage to using some of the techniques in sales but it doesn't hold up as an effective therapy.
absolutely.
Just read about it and take care to notice people around you.
Traditional Psychology does not accept NLP. But think where traditional psychology was 100 years ago and how much resistance it got by the science of the time. I guess what goes around comes around..
Saying this, there are a lot of charlatans on the field trying to profit in various ways. My advice is to read the principles, and use them to understand practically and in your daily life what works and what doesn't. When some technique works for you, you know at least that it's practically beneficial. I find Transactional Analysis a perfect match to combine with nlp.
