Sight or Sound?
If at the age of 21, you had no choice but to loose either your sight or hearing, which would you choose? And why?
Answers:
i would rather be blind i think..
i'm not much of a silence type of person it sometimes creeps me out..
plus i wouldn't be able to rock out if i was deaf..
i like being able to listen to music
if i had the choice i'd loose my hearing as i don't think i could manage without my sight. You can tell a lot by facial expressions that would help if i couldn't hear them
i would definitely keep my sight. without hearing you can still go wherever you want without assistance, you can text people even if you can't speak on the phone, and you can read someones body language. plus with BSL (British Sign Language) you can communicate just as well - I can already sign so I would be ok!
Even though I love sound.. I would lose this over sight... I don't think I could bear not to see the world in the faces around me.
Tough call. I would elect to lose my hearing. Humans are visual. Not to say we don't need hearing, but I think it would be easier to see things than to listen for them. You can see a car coming regardless of how much ambient noise there is. You might not hear the same car if the ambient noise is too high.
I'd want to SEE beauty. Hearing it (as in music) is important, but I'd miss seeing it more.
Being a musician I could not give up my hearing.
MY HEARING AND COULDNT HEAR THE WIFE NAG
i would loose hearing and block out peoples endless drivel!
but still would be able to see if anyone was up to anything!
;-)
I think sight is a lot more useful than sound. For example, It's a lot easier to get around places if you can see than if you can only hear. Plus you can use subtitles for films and you can still read books, use a computer, see your friends and family etc.
As an added bonus, you wouldn't have the annoyance of noisy neighbours, barking dogs, traffic noise, loud people etc.
Hearing, I could read lips, but if you cannot see, you have lost the beauty of the world.
I would rather lose sound.still allows you to be independent driving etc...can watch/read movie subtitles etc..
although Helen Keller said that deafness was worse
Hearing.
Loss of sight terrifies me.
Having thought a bit more about it.
Can I go deaf in one ear and blind in one eye?
Is that allowed?
Sight maybe, bec. it is better to see the beauty of nature.
My hearing. To not be able to see all of the wonders around me would be devastating.
I am already deaf and i get by very well so sight would be very precious to me. You can read expressions on peoples faces without hearing them
I would rather lose my hearing, as I would still be able to do my job, read, watch TV, go out on my own, see my friends and family and also my own appearance.
If I lost my hearing the only thing I would miss is music and conversation (which I would still be able to do if I was deaf because I could learn to lip-read).
If I had no choice I would lose hearing, because I think sight is the best sense that God has given us.
Hearing. Loss of sight is the most worrying.
i would have to choose my to lose my hearing ; because if I'm blind i can't draw and enjoy the beauties of the worlds.
and any way i can learn sign language to communicate and write and if i couldn't see i couldn't use my computer or see my families faces and smiles. but it depends on the person
I would choose my hearing because i think i could cope better losing that than my sight. Plus im ok at sign language
at the age of 20 i am slowly loosing my hearing. The thought of not hearing birds in the morning or the cry of my first born child, is quite frankly terrifying. But i am coming to terms with it, and realise that my life doesn't have to change too much because of it. For now anyway. it is likely i will be able to use hearing aids to help
Anyway, to answer your question, i am glad it is my hearing going not my eye sight. I think things would be a lot scarier if you couldn't see. There is nothing that i know of to help you see better if you are blind. at least i will be able to take advantage of technology and use a hearing aid
god bless those that cope with blindness and deafness, you are so much stronger than i could ever be
Neither, these are the greatest gifts we have contemplating losing them is crazy. Are you crazy?
I feel bad for blind and deaf people, I did voluntary work with deaf people, sometimes they would be so frustrated I would feel upset for them and want to cry!
