What things do you remember being scared of as a child?
I was petrified of the men with wheels for feet and arms off Return to Oz, A poster of Darth Vader on my brothers wall and Freddie Cruger. What made you sleep with the lights on?

the clown pennywise from the movie it. now that i think back, that movie had no business being on network tv. no stephen king movie should have. also the tv series v. that was some scary stuff. all of those made-for-tv movies scared me.

Mirrors, we had them covered up at night, we were told as kids if you look to long in the mirror, you will see something that you don`t want to see like the devil, this may seem daft to most people but it is true
big old grandfather clocks that boing! Even now I hear the dreaded tick tock and it makes me shudder.what a freaky lil punk I am!
I could never sleep with lights ON even when i was scared! i was really afraid of something happening to my family and i had a really bad fear of clowns I ran out of the circus in tears when I was small and i've never been to one since! seriously clowns just freaked me out! I still dont like them but I can control myself now.
I was scared of this clown doll I had after I had watched "Killer Klowns From Outer Space." It sat on my shelf when I was a kid, and it scared me to death. But, I was too embarassed to tell anyone so they would take it down for me.
My mum told me 2 things....both sea related.
1. On return of our holiday from butlins (70's child), my mum said 'oh mi god' the beetroot will have gone to sea (really seed). I had visions of beetroots with massive roots climbing over our walls.
2. The sea has no bottom and it just goes throught to the other side of the world....
Kept me thinking alot about that.
the image of edward scissorhands coming round the corner, when the avon lady first sees him in his attic, also the whole film scared me completely. lol

Old people, sharks (that's from watching "Jaws"), and Freddie Cruger (I couldn't even watch those movies, because then I'd be too scared to fall asleep)

noises in the night frightened me. When I was 3 someone broke into our home, nothing happened to anyone in my family but from then on I was always afraid that someone else was going to break in. I am okay with the nighttime now but I was so scared as a kid.

Bin men - the noise of that truck coming up the road was like a humming sound and I hated it - I think I used to run up the stairs. When I started taking my own kids to school I used to drive home on a Friday and meet the bin men and the trucks halfway and I so still wanted to put my put down and drive home so I would be in my house and doors shut before they got there - gosh thats soo sad ha ha ha !
Spiders and they still do now, lol.

The most scarry thing you can see is a tokoloshi. There is nothing on earthg more scarry. I have seen people being raped by Zimbabwean police and live. I have seen people death after meeting a tokoloshi.

George and Mildred - and I'm not joking. Mildred once wore a face pack that cracked and it scared the poop out of me and I was terrified to watch it ever again.
hmm.china dolls, I was brought a few of them as a kid & dont get me wrong they can be pretty to look at but when your a kid didnt you ever have the fear of things like that coming alive?

my oldest brother who was 14 at the time back in 1967 me and my sister were 8 and 9. what he would do was get a white sheet make holes for the eyes and get the old tin colander a tin lid and with the sheet over his head and body and the tin lid banging together on the colander and come slowly up the stairs shouting i am coming to get you this is the ghost of the house. we would be screaming and putting chairs at the back of the door and shouting ,he thought it was funny,and now my own shadow makes me jump.
